365体育世界杯The first phase of ‘AZ Forest’– our global initiative to plant 50 million trees worldwide over the next five years, supporting a cleaner, healthier climate – is now underway, with the first of 25 million trees going into the ground at a ceremony in Australia.
Our decision to plant half of the pledged 50 million trees in Australia recognises the devastation of Australia’s recent bushfires and demonstrates our commitment to support the country’s recovery, reforesting between 8,000-16,000 hectares1 of land. For this endeavour, we are working alongside our global partner , a not-for-profit reforestation organisation, and other local organisations.
365体育世界杯The recent Australian bushfires are a powerful reminder of the impact the changing climate is having on our planet. We cannot deny we are in a climate crisis which is why we are doing our part to help with the reforestation of Australia. These first trees planted mark the start of our plan to plant 50 million trees around the world and are part of an ambitious programme to eliminate carbon emissions from our operations over the next five years -- measures which I believe will help reduce the worst effects of a changing climate and improve human health.
AZ Forest complements our Ambition Zero Carbon programme announced at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in January, and supports the WEF’s newly launched ‘’ platform.
365体育世界杯Ambition Zero Carbon is our commitment to support a cleaner, healthier climate. Under this programme, we intend to ensure our global operations are responsible for zero emissions by 2025 (without relying on offset schemes), and that we become carbon negative across our entire value chain by 2030, bringing forward previous plans by more than a decade. Additionally, we have joined the to help shape policy to reduce climate impact and decarbonise the global economy.
